RH Johnson boasts largest private video library of its kind in the Southwest
SUN CITY WEST, Ariz. -- With the addition of 15 of Hollywood’s latest movie titles, the R.H. Johnson Library has announced it is offering a DVD/Blu-ray collection of more than 17,000 videos, making it the largest, private video library of its kind in the Southwest.
The collection includes not only new releases, but more than 4,000 Hollywood classics, more than 525 TV shows, more than 200 foreign films, as well as wide-ranging titles across every movie genre — westerns, musicals, comedy, sci-fi and family-fare, Recreation Centers of Sun City West officials stated in a release. Every Academy Award-winning Best Picture winner, as well as every movie in the American Film Institute’s various Top 100 Lists, are available in the video library, they said.
All titles are for checkout, for free, by residents, who must show their valid Sun City West rec card upon checkout. New releases arrive weekly, and the collection continually expands.
“Many in our community do not realize that the R. H. Johnson Library offers such a vast collection of high-quality videos,” said Friends of the R.H. Johnson Library President Larry Woods. “We encourage all of our residents to stop by the library and visit our large Media Center. I think that they will be amazed at how our DVD collection outpaces that of other libraries, and even competes with Netflix for variety of titles. Patrons can save their money for popcorn and candy and check out our DVDs for free. ”
The R. H. Johnson Library is in the midst of its 2015-16 fundraising campaign, and residents interested in making a donation may do so at the library, 13801 W. Meeker Blvd., or by calling 623-544-6130.
