Why People Flock to Arizona
What’s the Arizona buzz about? In the past decade, this Southwest state has come up in the ranks as the “hot” spot to move for not only retirees but families and professionals of all ages. If you don’t already live in Arizona you’re probably wondering what makes the state a desirable destination for retiring or putting down some roots. Here are just a few of our favorite reasons for moving to the sunny state we love to call home.
Would you like to see sunshine 338 out of 365 days a year? Of course! Who wouldn’t? This is what you can look forward to as a resident of the state of Arizona. With an abundance of sunshine and generally excellent weather year round, it’s no wonder everywhere you turn there is another green golf course.
You may hear people complain about the extreme heat in the summer months but it’s nothing compared to the high humidity and endless mosquitos that you’ll find in most other warm states in the Southeast and Midwest. If you’re especially sensitive to heat you always have the option to move to the Northern part of the state that is less affected by high temperatures. There’s also plenty of access to mountains and high elevation areas that can be almost 20 degrees lower in temperature than the low-lying areas of Arizona.
Natural Wonders and Sights
When people think of Arizona the Grand Canyon usually comes to mind. While the Grand Canyon offers amazing views, camping, hiking, sightseeing, tours and attractions there is no shortage of other beautiful sights and activities in the great state of Arizona. The Grand Canyon is just the beginning!
Many people flock to Arizona because of its beautiful natural terrain, access to mountains (yes, Arizona even has a ski season!), desert sunsets and abundance of outdoor activity options. Visit one of the state’s many national parks and monuments. Admire the beautiful red rock formations, caverns and valleys. The best part is that these activities can be enjoyed every month of the year so no sitting out a round of golf or a desert hike due to snow or frigid temperatures. Those days are behind you!
Real Estate and Taxes
If you’ve ever lived in the Northeast or places like California, then you’ll definitely consider home prices as a significant reason to flock to Arizona. In addition to the booming development market for homes in Arizona, you can get some serious bang for your buck compared to other parts of the country.
For the past decade or so, the Arizona housing market has not just remained strong, but has continued to grow. New developments are popping up all over the state and the median price for a home has remained fairly low. There is also no shortage of retirement communities aimed at those of you looking to stay active and social during your golden years.
In addition to finding affordable housing, there is no tax on social security income in the state of Arizona. There is also no inheritance tax, gift tax and estate tax. If you’re pinching your pennies in retirement so that you can take those trips you’ve always dreamed of or purchase a home large enough for your huge extended family, Arizona is just the state to help you out financially.
We can rattle off our favorite things about beautiful Arizona all day, but have a look for yourself. We think you’ll be happy to stay.
