In the late 1800s what is now known as Glendale, Arizona, was a desert wasteland. Arrowhead Towne Center opened in 1993, and the surrounding neighborhood, Arrowhead Ranch, continues to be one of the most sought after communities in the Valley. The completion of Loop 101 throughout Glendale opened the city to the rest of the Valley.
Glendale is home to Luke Air Force Base, the USAF’s largest fighter pilot training facility in the world. In 2012 Luke Air Force Base was selected to be the training base for the F-35. Glendale is also home to the NHL Phoenix Coyotes, the NFL Arizona Cardinals and is host to the NCAA College Football Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.
