Litchfield Park is located approximately 16 miles west of downtown Phoenix. It is a historically affluent community named after its founder, Paul Weeks Litchfield. He was an executive of the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company who came to Arizona in 1916 in search of suitable land to farm long-staple cotton. The cotton was needed to strengthen the rubber in pneumatic tires, of which Goodyear was the world’s largest producer. Litchfield Park is a unique suburban community boasting a small town atmosphere and casual lifestyle.
The highlight of this city is The Wigwam Resort Hotel, a four-star establishment with three 18-hole championship golf courses designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones, Sr. The guests have their choice of three outstanding restaurants on property. Two miles north of Litchfield Park is Luke Air Force Base, the largest training center for F-35A fighter pilots in the world. Many of the Litchfield Park residents are actually retired military personnel still involved at the Air Force Base.
White Tank Mountains Regional Park is located west of Litchfield Park and is named for the natural rock water tanks once used by local Indians. This mountain range features 17 miles of trails for hikers, mountain bikers and equestrians, and has numerous camping and picnic areas.
