Sun City West is located approximately 19 miles northwest of downtown Phoenix. Before the community was constructed, most of the area was farmland, mainly growing cotton. Sun City West was constructed by Del E Webb Development Company starting in the late 1970’s building 16,900 homes favored by home buyers who want reasonably priced homes in a large amenity-laden active adult community.
This 55+ community includes an enviable lineup of amenities that includes four recreation centers, nine golf courses and nine restaurants. The recreation centers house a variety of attractions such as indoor and outdoor pools, state-of-the-art fitness centers, indoor and outdoor walking tracks, tennis, miniature golf, billiards, ballrooms, dance studios, hobby and craft rooms, computer lab, Stardust Theater, concert hall and library, to name a few. Sun City West has 106 chartered clubs covering virtually any interest one can think of!
Within the Sun City West community are several churches, grocery stores, drug stores, gas stations, medical offices, three fire stations, and Banner Del E Webb Memorial Hospital all accessible easily by golf cart.
