Preparing Your Property for Summer
If you haven’t noticed from the rising temperatures around Greater Phoenix, the summer season is just around the corner. While we’re all preparing for the hotter months with our favorite lemonade recipes, the purchase of new outdoor furniture or a lighter weight wardrobe - we often forget that our homes need some TLC as well.
But what do we need to do around our homes to get them ready for the sweltering months of Arizona summer? We have your checklist for all things summer prep!
Have Your Air Conditioning System Serviced
There is rarely anything worse than the much-needed air conditioning system calling it quits the second temperatures hit their highest peaks. Don’t be left stranded waiting days in your home that now seconds as a sauna when the air conditioning repair companies are booked up with other jobs. Have your system serviced while it’s still in working condition so any preventative work can be done to keep your home cool when it’s needed the most.
Clean Your Gutters
Monsoon season is right around the corner - how do your gutters look? After the passage of the fall, winter and spring months it’s likely your gutters are far from being at their cleanest. Dust off the trusty ladder and make sure your gutters are clear of debris. Better yet, have them professionally cleaned and checked for any needed repairs. Once monsoon season rolls around your gutters will be critical to keep your property dry.
Tidy Up Your Yard
At the height of the hot summer months or in the middle of monsoon season, the last thing you’ll want to do is spend time in your yard. Go ahead and get those new plants in the ground, or finish up that necessary landscaping project before the hot and rainy months hit Arizona. Make sure to protect your skin and overall body temperature by doing work in the yard in the mornings and evenings when the sun is less intense.
Have Your Roof Inspected
With the sun beating down on your home and the rain of monsoon season taking its toll on your property, make sure to have your roof checked for cracks and leaks prior to the most brutal months of the year. Letting potential issues go unattended to will mean bigger, and more expensive, problems come the summer. Take care of that important maintenance now.
Summer is the time of year you’ll want to maximize time with kids or grandkids that are out of school, take those planned summer vacations, or just spend your days relaxing and staying out of the heat. Don’t let an unplanned maintenance issue or a need to tend to the front yard derail all your best summer plans. Get ahead of that summer rush!
