The Best Golf Courses in Greater Phoenix
It’s no secret that Greater Phoenix is known for its endless number of lush golf courses and impressive clubs attracting enthusiasts from across the country for golf weekends in our fine city. With Arizona’s year-round sunshine and reputation for a relaxed lifestyle it’s no surprise there is an abundance of golf courses across the state. It’s one of the many perks residents benefit from when calling Arizona home. But how do you choose where to hit the links this weekend?
These are some of our favorite golf courses in the area based on scenery, degree of challenge, course conditions, and the length of the rounds.
The Scenic Course
Troon North
If the iconic Arizona landscape is what you’re after, look no further than Troon North. Here you’ll find cacti, arroyos, rocks and views of Pinnacle Peak. Play one of the two public courses, either The Monument or Pinnacle, with The Monument offering the best views and Pinnacle offering walkability. Either way, Troon North will give you the true Arizona experience.
The Famous Course
TPC Scottsdale
You’ve probably heard of this course as it is home to the Waste Management Phoenix Open, which is the best attended tournament on the PGA Tour. Of course we had to include this one on our list! It’s not the most scenic of Arizona courses, but it’s probably one of the most thrilling and famous. You’ll definitely feel like one of the pros with a round on this course.
The Mountainous Course
Gold Canyon Golf Resort
Looking for a little challenge when it comes to elevation? Gold Canyon Golf Club is your spot! This golf club features two separate courses at the foot of the Superstition Mountains and offers some challenging elevations from tee to green. These courses might just challenge you in a way you’ve never experienced, especially if you’re used to playing on flatter terrain.
The Desert Course
Raven Golf Club
This club offers everything you'd expect from an Arizona golf course – the desert. While it’s located in the heart of Phoenix you’ll feel like you’ve stepped into a distant desert landscape. If you’re looking for a little something different from the usual green fairways, Raven Golf Club won’t disappoint.
The Peaceful Course
We-Ko-Pa Golf Club
Wekopa.com
If an escape from the hustle and bustle is what you’re after in your round of golf, We-Ko-Pa might be just what the doctor ordered. This club is free from houses or traffic – just you, the ball, and empty fairways. Not only are the courses at We-Ko-Pa quite peaceful, they are pleasing to the eye as well.
The Tough Course
Quintero Golf Club
If you’re in the mood to really kick your game into high gear with a serious challenge, you’ll want to visit Quintero Golf Club in Peoria just west of Lake Pleasant. Quintero offers challenging elevation changes on every hole and has some of the toughest Par 3s in all of Arizona. This club isn’t for the faint of heart, but if you’re up for it the challenge can offer quite the competition with your golfing buddies.
If
you’re an avid golfer, Arizona is one of the best states in the country
to be in for equally beautiful and challenging courses. The best part is
that you’ll have plenty of time to fit in a course for every mood since
you can hit the links all year in our beautiful state of Arizona.
